Dropdown doesn't work in IE9 & older

Dropdown doesn't work in IE9 & older

I'm getting a weird behavior from a select. In Chrome, FF and modern
browsers everything it's going as it should but in IE9 and older I can't
make my select to open. To make it open I have to keep my click pushed,
it's like something it's 'stealing' the focus from it. Does anyone know
about this type of behavior? It's a jQuery particular bug? How can I avoid
it?
I'm sorry that I can't provide any example - my project it's local, and I
couldn't replicate it in jsfiddle.
